NZ Wagyu began in 2015, and brings to market premium Wagyu of a quality never before produced in New Zealand. Our production methods combine 200-year-old Japanese genetics and breeding techniques with New Zealand’s incredible grass, grain, water and air. The combination of these two cultures – Japanese respect and modesty, and Kiwi drive – is key in ensuring we create one of the finest premium Wagyu products in the world.
In keeping with our Japanese heritage, NZ Wagyu’s policy is to ensure that those we work with are treated fairly and with respect at every touchpoint of our production process. Our value chain closely links each participant, from the producer all the way through to the consumer. Our fair-trade policy and consistent pricing ensure we provide a competitive and sustainable return for our farmers.
After the breeding process our Japanese Wagyu calves are gradually weaned onto free-range grazing before eventually moving into our loafing barns. As the cattle prepare to move from pasture to barn, they are carefully transitioned onto a new diet consisting purely of our special blend of grain. Our NZ Wagyu cattle are finished in the comfortable environment of our cutting-edge loafing barns, with regular vet visits to monitor our animals’ health and welfare.
Our priority throughout the whole production process is the health and happiness of our cattle, because this directly affects the quality of our meat.
